a blue gem in a grey cave

The refurbished premises appear like a geometrical cave cut out from a cement block. High-performance resin coating laid on floor, walls, ceiling and bespoke furniture, creates a continuum that surrounds space throughout. Niches for seatings are shaped by organising the rhythm of the existing shopwindow while those for appliances and exposition shelves are cut out inside hidden cabinet panelled walls. The servicing area has been arranged in a blue-stained wood moulded block emerging in that grey space. Hidden strip LED lighting underlines gaps between volumes and enhances surfaces. Two main textures, two main colours. Those define a clear space and remind two distinctive features of Italian landscape: sea and sand.
